NurseLink helped Mark to look after his wife in the last months of her life. Our nurses did the 'night shift' leaving him refreshed to care for her during the days. Often night becomes day as death approaches and memories held in the unconscious rise and give the person a chance to deal with them. In a supportive safe environment, Mark's wife found only peaceful regrets! During the bereavement period we continued to support Mark, who found the going tough. Our practical support of two hours a day by Senior Nurse Assistants and Nurse Assistants enabled Mark to leave the home he had shared with his wife and to take the next step into a hostel in the same complex. It was an extension of the care from known people.
